Boeing to pay $2.5 billion to settle 737 MAX fraud charges:

Boeing has agreed to pay $2.5 billion to settle charges related to fraud and conspiracy in relation to the 737 MAX aircraft. The settlement resolves a two-year investigation by the US Department of Justice into the design and certification of the 737 MAX, following two deadly crashes in 2018 and 2019. The settlement includes a $1.77 billion fine and $500 million in compensation to the families of the victims of the crashes. The remaining amount will be used to compensate airlines affected by the grounding of the aircraft and to establish a fund for airline safety and compliance.
