Flight Control System - Principles Of Operation

The flight control system is fully automatic and requires a minimum of flight unique crew skills.  Operator adjustments to the flight control system are the helm, depth command, takeoff controller engage/disengage switch and the heading hold engage switch.  The throttles are considered auxiliary controls and are not part of the flight control system.  Other wheel house controls are not considered part of the flight control system.

The operator controls are:

HELM  used to control heading and introduce turns

HEIGHT COMMAND  used to provide crew adjustments to the flying height

TAKE-OFF CONTROLLER  used to engage flight control functions

ENGAGE/DISENGAGE SWITCH which augment the transition from motion control to flight operations

HEADING HOLD ENGAGE  used to enable the heading hold SWITCH  features.
